Police Announce Arrest of David Ferrar

Police officers from Buxton, Portland, the Maine State Police, and the Maine Warden Service all worked cooperatively to locate and arrest a dangerous burglar. 23-year-old David Michael Ferrar of Portland was arrested following an investigation that involved all four agencies. He was taken into custody in Buxton Saturday morning at 6:30 am. Officers had received information that Ferrar was in the area and had committed a burglary and stolen a handgun. All of the agencies involved searched throughout the night until Ferrar was located on Dunnell Road while committing another burglary.

Ferrar is charged with two counts of burglary and theft of a firearm. He is being held at the York County Jail. His bail is set at $150,000. He is also facing charges of violating terms of probation. Ferrar remains a person of interest in numerous burglaries in the City of Portland and additional charges are expected.

Portland Police had asked for assistance from the public in locating Ferrar on August 26. We received many leads and continued to follow-up on tips from the public. We thank the Buxton Police Department, Maine State Police and Maine Warden Service for their assistance in locating and arresting this dangerous burglar.
