The Portland Police Department is attempting to identify the driver of a light-colored sedan which struck a 13-year-old boy from Portland as he was riding his bicycle. The incident happened on Friday, October 12th at approximately 2:50pm on Congress Street near Bramhall Fire Station. The boy’s injuries were not life threatening, although he was transported to Maine Medical Center for treatment. The bicyclist was traveling westerly on Congress Street. The suspect vehicle pulled out of the alley next to 715 Congress Street hitting the bicyclist. The driver of the sedan fled the scene after striking the boy. The driver is described as a black male, tall, with a thin build, in his twenty’s. There was also a passenger fitting a similar description. This incident is being investigated by the Portland Police Department Traffic Division. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call 874-8532.
