On October 1, 2012, at approximately 12:30 am, Portland Police officers arrested two New York men after a loaded firearm was discovered in their possession during a traffic stop.
Lieutenant Clifford Strout was conducting uniform patrol duties when he conducted a traffic stop of a gray, 2002 Acura bearing a New York registration. During the traffic stop a drug recognition canine alerted to the suspected presence of contraband in the Acura. A search of the Acura revealed a loaded .45 caliber handgun. A criminal history check revealed both men to be convicted felons from New York.
Fitzgerald Carryl, DOB: 09-03-82 and Kaemar Wilson, DOB: 01-29-85 were arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Class C and Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Class D.
Carryl was charged with the additional crimes of Assault on a Police Officer, Class C and Aggravated Reckless Conduct, Class B after he attempted to take an officers service weapon from its holster during his arrest. A taser was used to subdue Carryl who was taken into custody.
Carrylís bail was set at $ 5,000.00 cash.
Wilsonís bail was set at $ 2,500.00 cash.
Detectives are investigating whether there is any connection between the two men, the gray Acura and the two Home Invasion Robberies reported on September 30, 2012.
