10/1/2012 - The Portland Police Department is investigating two Home Invasion Robberies that occurred during the morning of September 30, 2012.

At approximately 5:00 am, a Portland woman was approached by two men dressed in dark clothing wearing masks as she was standing outside of 218 Park Avenue. One of the men pointed a handgun at the woman then struck in the head with gun. The men forced her into 218 Park Avenue where they kicked in an apartment door. The men stole several electronic devices from the occupants of the apartment then fled. The woman was treated at the Maine Medical Center for a non-life threatening head laceration.

At approximately 10:00 am, officers were dispatched to 223 Cumberland Avenue for the report of a robbery. Officers revealed that two men dressed in dark clothing; wearing masks, forced their way into an apartment and stole money and several electronic devices from the occupants while threatening the victims with a handgun. Witnesses at the scene saw the suspects flee in a small, gray, two door car. No injuries were reported in this incident.

Detectives are conducting follow-up investigations in an attempt to determine if the two Home Invasion Robberies are connected.
