Triple Shooting and Homicide
Three men were shot during an altercation in front of 105 India Street at 1:00 AM today. One of the victims, 24 year old Matthew Blanchard, died as a result of his injuries. The other victims are identified as 24 year old Joshua Hersom and 20 year old John Howard. Hersom and Howard underwent surgery and are expected to recover. All three men are Portland residents.
Blanchard was riding a bicycle and accompanied by three other men when the shooting occurred. Witnesses report seeing two black or Asian men in the area just prior to the shooting. The nature of the altercation between the groups is not clear. The perpetrators are believed to have fled on foot heading west on Congress Street.
