Serious Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident
The Portland Police traffic unit is currently investigating a serious personal injury accident that occurred in the area of 118 Johnson Rd at approximately 1320 hours on June 27th. The accident involved a gold Toyota Avalon operated by 83 year old William Lyons of South Portland, and a white Harley Davidson motorcycle. The identity of the motorcycle operator is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The motorcycle was traveling in-bound on Johnson Rd when the Toyota pulled into traffic in front of the motorcycle in an attempt to make a U-turn. The motorcycle then struck the left front of the Toyota. The operator of the motorcycle was transported to Maine Medical center with serious head injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The information presented here is preliminary and subject to change. In the interest of providing information to the media and the public, we wanted to ensure that you had as much information as quickly as possible. It is possible that this information may change as the investigation continues.
