Officer Lauterbach moved to Portland in 2004 after having been an officer for the New York Police Department for three years. In total, Rob has had nine years experience as an officer. He is currently working on Peaks Island where he has been assigned since January of 2008. Some of the facts about Rob and his career at the Portland Police Department are:

He moved to Portland to enjoy the change in quality of life from New York, where he had grown up in Brooklyn.

While in New York, he worked for the “conditions unit,” a unit that focused on interaction with the community and assisting in a proactive approach to policing. His work assignments for NYPD included Harlem and Flatbush.

Growing up, Rob participated in the local PAL program so he understands the importance of police and community interaction.

His easy-going nature has made him a good fit for police work - especially the Senior Lead Program.
