internships at the ppd
The Portland Police Department works in partnership with area agencies and schools to provide a variety of educational and volunteer experiences. We are interested in motivated and self directed individuals who are interested in the field of law enforcement. A list of placements may include:
- One of the six community policing centers within Portland where a partnership of civilian coordinator, police officers and community members come together to proactively solve community problems. A majority of the work in this area is social work related.
- Property and Evidence is a division of the police organization that houses, secures and organizes the important evidence related to cases and investigations. Much of this work can be physical in nature.
- The Office of Crime Analysis organizes, analyzes and distributes information regarding the patterns and practices of crime within Portland. Much of this work is data entry and computer related.
- The Criminal Investigation Divisions may need assistance in collating information regarding a specific case, organizing data bases and assisting with data entry.
Interested parties may contact the Office of Police Personnel to see if openings are available 874-8588. A resume submission, short interview and background check is required of candidates. Please do not submit paperwork unless told to do so.
